The
Sterilles (Aan Leadingham, Dina Press-Price and Ashley Stewart) started out
as an all-girl punk band and had a radio hit early on in their career with
"I'm on the Rag." Poor management and bad business practices took
away any profit from that experience.
The band then slowly disappeared from the Hollywood rock scene until the mid
90s when, introducing Ian Bernard on drums, The Sterilles took another shot
of sorts at the rock and roll lifestyle.
The
now almost all-girl band stayed true to its punk roots and continued playing
some of the songs that made them nearly famous. They also got into
some long, extended jams ala the Dead. LIve shows were always fun to see.
The Sterilles only made it into the studio once in this incarnation with Peggy and Shark at the dials. The songs eventually recorded were "black" and "Zima people" the latter which had to have its name changed to protect the band from any possible law suits.
The girls are now married with children and as far as anyone knows not rockin the house any more. And they could rock when they wanted to. Ian is somewhere.
The band originally put out an extended EP (on vinyl no less!) with their first drummer Ashley Stewart on Screaming Skull Records (out of print) back in the 80s.
